Fire Stables - classic food with style

Tucked in the heart of Wimbledon Village is the newly refurbished Fire Stables which has opened it’s doors to the public.

The menu champions classic pub food such as steak and beer battered cod and chips with the emphasis on quality.

If you have a penchant for fish you won’t be disappointed as daily catch specials are displayed prominently on blackboards in the restaurant from which you can pick whatever takes your fancy. On the day we tried the hake served with potatoes, spring onion, herbs, lemon & a fennel, apple, chive & radish salad.

To accompany your meal we’d recommend asking the knowledgeable staff about their extensive wine selection and asking what would go best with your food. If wine isn’t your drink of choice there’s also local and craft beers to choose from.

The pudding menu is small but perfectly formed with staples such as tiramisu and apple and mixed berry crumble. The portions are generous and you might even consider sharing a desert between two.

We all know that Wimbledon is one of the most sought after London postcodes and the restaurant’s chic parisian style decor and focus on quality reflects its location.

The prices are what you would expect of the area, with the mains starting from the £13 mark and ending at £31. A three course meal with a bottle of wine will set you back approximately £80 - £100.
